I am registered for classes in the spring. I am taking an Ancient Rome class and the rest are education based. Luckily, one of those classes will be online, so that will make next semester seem less hellish.
So do to the positive feedback that Joyce and Jenny gave on the bangs I decided to recut them yesterday, it was either that or do homework. Anyways, I actually cut them the right length, so I'm thinking they look good. When I have a camera I'll post a picture.

Freaking Incompetence
So today was insanity at work. When I went to do payroll this morning I discovered that one of the student employees had been separated from the system, aka terminated. I discovered the reason why this happened was that someone had forgotten to turn in proof that the employee was a student and the government kicked her out of the system. Luckily, we were able to get them to cancel the separation, because that would have sucked to come into work to find out that you were let go because your manager forgot to turn in a form.
To top it off every single person in the office today had some drama from flu shots, to name badges, to freaking I can't load staples in a copy machine, and of course I am the only person who can fix it. Flu shots! That's not me, talk to the boss. Thanks for the help on the badge Teeny, and why am I the only person in the whole building that can read an instruction manual?
On a more positive note, I was asked today if I would rather have my name appear as Kacie or Katharine if I get listed (the book might get caught up in a legal mess) for the help I did on the Truman/Acheson book. I went with Kacie.
So that is enough venting, if you are looking for movie recs, I have one CSA: The Confederate States of America, a bit difficult to watch but really interesting, plus it's filmed locally at least for me. If you've already heard of the movie, sorry I was in Benin.

Catching up
So, I've been pretty bad about checking/posting blogs. Work has actaully been busy and when I'm not working I'm trying to not fall far behind in classes, so far so good. Luckily next semester I am going to get to take an online course so hopefully I won't feel this scattered.
My landlord is being cruel with the heat, they've been turning it on for an hour and then turning it off for three, and I sit freezing in my drafty apartment. I don't think that I've ever fully recovered from 120 degree weather. I remember I used to be more accepting of the cold, but I could be wrong.
Work has finally slowed down, which is awesome because I can update this blog, but sucks because once again I must look for things so I look busy. Classes are hetic. I still feel lost in my Principles of Testing class, mainly because in order to write a test you need lesson plans to base it off of, and I have no idea how to write those correctly. Other than that I am excited about Halloween, and finally getting to spend time with all my favorite people in Omaha!
In other news, my parents are going to New York on Thursday so I get to house sit, which means five whole days of playing with dogs, life is awesome! Plus I will have a table to study on!

Another Acheson Quote
"The French are the troublesome ones, as they always have been. Indeed,
French weakness has always been the disease from which our Grand
Alliance has suffered. The French appear to be willing to do almost
anything to stop the war in Indo-China on almost any terms. I do not see
the answer to this, short of a change in the French constitution which
will give them an executive strong enough to face up to difficult
problems, make decisions, and survive long enough to live with the
decisions until the politicians and the public have become adjusted to
them. If every one of these decisions, which are always a choice between
two difficult alternatives, has to win a popularity contest in the
French Chamber, then we will always face governments falling like autumn
leaves, the continuance of an inflation which is now thirty years old,
and instability of the worst sort in the very heart of Europe."
Laziest weekend ever, I did manage to do some much needed chores but I totally forgot about a five page paper that is due on Wednesday. Lucky for me I still have Monday and Tuesday to get it done.

There is a huge cultural gap
"The well known envelope with your name in the corner and your handwriting on it lying on our hall table always quickens my heart. Yesterday’s letter was no exception. It was a delight in itself and because it brought the good news, which I shall treat as confidential until I see it released, that you will be here in the week of June 22 and that I shall see you. You must let me know when you will arrive so that I can have again the joy of meeting you as you step off the train."
Not knowing any better one might think that this is the opening of a love letter or something, no it's a letter from Dean Acheson to Harry Truman. There is no way that a male today would write about his heart quickening at the sight of another man's letter.

Sierra has been put to sleep

The Lovey Dovey Dog
22 September 2009
by Steve Perna
She was a golden dog, bought from a Golden Retriever rescue, but that is about all she had in common with a classical Golden Retriever. The Lovey Dovey dog came with the name of Sierra and she was much more beautiful than a classical Golden Retriever. She had floppy ears, long snout and beautiful eyes which all animated the crazed expression on her face. Some (yours truly) believed that she was part Beagle.
The Lovey Dog soon after moving in discovered how to escape from the backyard. Luckily she had a tag with her address and phone number. When she would escape we would always get a phone call within 15 minutes of someone picking her up. People would stop there cars call on their cell phones and deliver her right to our house. Sierra would be sitting happily in the passenger seat. Then the person who brought her back would say what a beautiful dog she was.
One time the Lovey Dovey dog got too close to the traffic and the phone call wasn’t a good one. TheLovey Dovey dog ended up in the doggy emergency room. But after a few days she was all good again. Everyone in the emergency room thought she was a beautiful dog.
You can probably get the idea by now that the Lovey Dovey dog took advantage of her good looks. She was very good at begging for treats and didn’t mind being spoiled.
The lovey dovey dog liked to be in charge of the other dogs in the house (namely Sally). She was the keeper of the toys. She stashed in her Kennel the squeaky mailman, the squeaky vet, the squeaky bone, etc. etc... She was determined to play with them all at the same time.
She was also the keeper of the time. She knew when it was 4 AM and that I needed to get up, she new when it was 6 AM and it was time for a nap. Then again she knew exactly when it was 7AM and it was time for me to get up and go to work. She loved her routine and would not let me escape it.
She was an acrobatic dog. She loved to charge in from the backyard at meal time. She would jump and turn circles in the air. She was always excited about breakfast and her morning walk.
She also could sing beautifully. When sirens could be heard in the distance she would sing along with a beautiful howl. She and Kacie would also sing together. Sally would always try to join in with her barking.
In her last few months the Lovey Dovey dog got to become a puppy again. Lily was left at our house and Lily wanted to puppy play. She found a more than willing participant in Sierra. They would wrestle, chase, and nibble on each other for hours. They would only break for water or to bark at someone passing by.
The Lovey Dovey dog got sick and we were able to treat it for a few months. The treatment worked wonders and you would never know that she would soon be gone. But unfortunately that day came. She wanted to go out into the woods and crawl under a rock to sleep. We had a nice walk in the woods today. She couldn’t eat anymore so I told her that I would take care of her and she could go to sleep and never be hungry again. The Lovey Dovey dog thought that was a great idea.
