One more paper left for the semester!

School is finally starting to wind down. I just finished my last presentation for Principles of Testing last night, and all I have left is a paper and two finals. That is what I love about graduate work, lots of papers and no tests. Sadly, the undergrad classes that I have to complete do not feel the same way.

I was at Target on Saturday and splurged a bit and bought the first two seasons of Gossip Girl (they were $12 a piece, and I took advantage). I watched the first season, I think in Benin. Anyways I can't decide if I actually like the show or am just addicted to it. Seriously, I feel ashamed that I'm watching this show, because it is so horrible, but I can't turn away. I think someone described it to me as TV crack. So I will be spending my entire winter break glued to the TV watching the worst characteristic of American society, and shamefully enjoying every minute.

this will be political, you have been warned

I read this from The Onion and thought that it was appropriate.

I just had to listen to a rant on how we Islam is a one of a kind religion, because it is the only religion that is openly violent, and how we need to get rid of all Islams in America because they are terrorists. ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am starting to remember why I wanted to leave the midwest. How can people even talk like that. I was doing pretty well in not being openly offended until I heard "Christian, Jews, and every other religion is ok to have in the United States because they are not violent." At that point I just started laughing and walked away because seriously how offensive can you get.

I do not understand how people can be so ignorant when it comes to Islam. You are in luck it is 5:00 and I get to go home so my rant will come to an end. I'm going to see Rachel and Kindra tonight, pity them.

Titus Pullo!

I am registered for classes in the spring. I am taking an Ancient Rome class and the rest are education based. Luckily, one of those classes will be online, so that will make next semester seem less hellish.

So do to the positive feedback that Joyce and Jenny gave on the bangs I decided to recut them yesterday, it was either that or do homework. Anyways, I actually cut them the right length, so I'm thinking they look good. When I have a camera I'll post a picture.

Apartment Pictures for Joyce

My view.
Kacie's is reduced to a fan girl in this picture, while Mom keep's her cool.
My computer desk, sans computer, but still a mess. All of these pictures will show the mess that I live in at the moment. At some point I hope to clean.
Another picture of the living room, so you can see the contrast between green and beige walls.
The bath tub.
The bathroom wall paper was one of the characteristics that made this apartment so appealing.
The green walls were another characteristic. The next two photos are of the kitchen.

Freaking Incompetence

So today was insanity at work. When I went to do payroll this morning I discovered that one of the student employees had been separated from the system, aka terminated. I discovered the reason why this happened was that someone had forgotten to turn in proof that the employee was a student and the government kicked her out of the system. Luckily, we were able to get them to cancel the separation, because that would have sucked to come into work to find out that you were let go because your manager forgot to turn in a form.

To top it off every single person in the office today had some drama from flu shots, to name badges, to freaking I can't load staples in a copy machine, and of course I am the only person who can fix it. Flu shots! That's not me, talk to the boss. Thanks for the help on the badge Teeny, and why am I the only person in the whole building that can read an instruction manual?

On a more positive note, I was asked today if I would rather have my name appear as Kacie or Katharine if I get listed (the book might get caught up in a legal mess) for the help I did on the Truman/Acheson book. I went with Kacie.

So that is enough venting, if you are looking for movie recs, I have one CSA: The Confederate States of America, a bit difficult to watch but really interesting, plus it's filmed locally at least for me. If you've already heard of the movie, sorry I was in Benin.

Catching up

So, I've been pretty bad about checking/posting blogs. Work has actaully been busy and when I'm not working I'm trying to not fall far behind in classes, so far so good. Luckily next semester I am going to get to take an online course so hopefully I won't feel this scattered.

My landlord is being cruel with the heat, they've been turning it on for an hour and then turning it off for three, and I sit freezing in my drafty apartment. I don't think that I've ever fully recovered from 120 degree weather. I remember I used to be more accepting of the cold, but I could be wrong.

Work has finally slowed down, which is awesome because I can update this blog, but sucks because once again I must look for things so I look busy. Classes are hetic. I still feel lost in my Principles of Testing class, mainly because in order to write a test you need lesson plans to base it off of, and I have no idea how to write those correctly. Other than that I am excited about Halloween, and finally getting to spend time with all my favorite people in Omaha!

In other news, my parents are going to New York on Thursday so I get to house sit, which means five whole days of playing with dogs, life is awesome! Plus I will have a table to study on!

Another Acheson Quote

"The French are the troublesome ones, as they always have been. Indeed,
French weakness has always been the disease from which our Grand
Alliance has suffered. The French appear to be willing to do almost
anything to stop the war in Indo-China on almost any terms. I do not see
the answer to this, short of a change in the French constitution which
will give them an executive strong enough to face up to difficult
problems, make decisions, and survive long enough to live with the
decisions until the politicians and the public have become adjusted to
them. If every one of these decisions, which are always a choice between
two difficult alternatives, has to win a popularity contest in the
French Chamber, then we will always face governments falling like autumn
leaves, the continuance of an inflation which is now thirty years old,
and instability of the worst sort in the very heart of Europe."

Laziest weekend ever, I did manage to do some much needed chores but I totally forgot about a five page paper that is due on Wednesday. Lucky for me I still have Monday and Tuesday to get it done.
